GHMC has decided to conduct a GIS survey for efficient collection of property, water, and other taxes under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The survey will be conducted for the mapping of more than 20 lakh properties in the greater area. As a part of this, drones will be used to accurately know the boundaries of each plot or building, along with high-resolution satellite data. This survey and mapping will make it easier to identify tax evaders. Apart from this, this data is also useful for the efficient management of roads, street lights, water supply networks, drainage systems, hospitals, fire stations, schools, etc. Recently, GHMC invited bidders for this purpose. It suggested filing bids on technical and financial aspects related to surveying and mapping. With this, two agencies have come forward that are interested in mapping the geographic information of all properties in the city. They also stated that they would create a Jio-enabled mobile application. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Ross stated that ponds and lakes will also be covered under this project. He said that GIS mapping will take 18 months.
