Foreign investments account for 77% of total realty investments

The average annual investment in five years was $5.1 billion.

Colliers report revealed

A recently released report revealed that 77 percent of the investments in the real sector in India between 2019 and 2023 were foreign. This is a testament to the continued confidence in the Indian real estate sector. The average annual total investment during this period was $5.1 billion, real estate consultancy Colliers revealed in its ‘2024 Investor in Sights-Country Spotlight Series’. Colliers India MD (Capital Markets and Investment Services) Piyush Gupta stated that global investors have always been at the forefront of Indian real estate investments and have invested an average of $4 billion annually in the last five years, showing continued commitment and confidence in the sector. The office sector received the highest average inflow ($2 billion), followed by the alternative sector ($0.5 billion), followed by industrial, logistics, residential, and mixed-use investments at $0.4 billion each. A strong preference for high-income office properties continues, the report said. While America and Canada are the top sources of capital in Indian real estate, interest is also increasing in Asia-Pacific countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan.
