Fire incident in Kuwait.. How safe are we in Hyderabad?

TG Government should set up a separate department to check skyscrapers quality check

The tragic incident in Kuwait where 45 Indians lost their lives due to a fire has raised serious concerns among everyone about our safety. The construction of skyscrapers, some reaching heights of 30 to 40 floors, has significantly increased in Hyderabad. However, concerns arise as utilities such as electricity and water are supplied from the lower levels. They also operate super-speed elevators. What if a fire incident occurs at such heights? Are there emergency exits properly planned? How efficiently can we manage the situation if we need to evacuate the building? These are critical questions that need to be addressed.

Whether it’s the GHMC or HMDA, permissions have been granted for construction of skyscrapers from very high to very low levels. Currently, in the real estate market, how are builders managing skyscrapers construction activity? Are there quality checks in place by concerned authorities? There is a need for the government to consider these aspects seriously. If not now, a separate department should be set up immediately to periodically review the safety of skyscrapers. Moreover, departments should focus not just on quality but also on ensuring compliance with the regulations to prevent potential disasters.
