Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s idea is to put Telangana state in the top position in the country in terms of agricultural exports. He wanted to give financial support to the women living in the cities by using Icrisat services extensively. For this purpose, the Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department in Danakishore took action. It is reported that discussions were held with the representatives of ICRISAT. By providing opportunities in agri-business and agri-marketing, women’s self-help groups in towns are expected to be financially empowered.
It is learned that ICRISAT provides technical assistance to the departments of HMDA, the National Institute of Urban Management, the Urban Poverty Alleviation Organisation (MEPMA), and APEDA, which work under the Municipal Administration Department. Which agricultural products are in high demand? How should they be harvested? In which season should they be harvested? How should the products grown by the farmers be marketed so far? It is reported that ICRISAT will provide awareness to self-help groups on many such topics. It has been learned that the Municipal Administration Department will coordinate to establish export hubs within HMDA to provide opportunities for the export and marketing of agricultural products.
