Speaking as the chief guest at the CII IGBC second edition green property show at Hitex, he underscored the Congress government’s resolve to transform Telangana into a global city. Reddy emphasised that critical infrastructure would be augmented to meet the demands of a global metropolis. He articulated a vision for the Musi Riverfront to attain international standards and announced plans for expanding the metro corridor throughout the city. Additionally, he pledged his administration’s proactive stance in facilitating a conducive trade policy nationwide and ensuring rejuvenation in the real estate sector. IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said that investments of thousands of crores of rupees are coming to the state. He said that, more importantly, there is a lot of investment in the IT sector, which will provide many opportunities in addition to jobs. It has been revealed that the IT sector will be widely developed in the next four years, and efforts are being made to bring investments under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy. He said that plans are being made to introduce new policies. They are moving forward with long-term strategies. He said that the government is committed to the trade facilitation policy, and the government will provide support to investors, construction companies, and the real estate sector.
Environmentally friendly green buildings in the construction sector are very useful for environmental protection, he said, adding that construction companies should educate buyers about green buildings. In 2003, the construction of green concepts started in Andhra Pradesh, and the construction of green buildings has been going on gradually for 20 years. He said that the then-Manmohan government had passed strict laws on the use of plastic. He recalled that when he was the Minister of Civil Supplies, he conducted surprise inspections to reduce the use of plastic. He asked everyone to work towards reducing carbon emissions.
IGBC National Vice Chairman C. Shekhar Reddy revealed that around eight hundred green projects are being constructed in Telangana in an area of 1.4 billion square feet. He was speaking at the second edition of the IGBC Green Property Show at Hitex on Friday. He mentioned that around 700 builders are constructing 7,000 green apartments in Hyderabad, which will be completed within six months to four years. He said that 13,000 green projects are under construction across the country. We are in second place among the world’s green buildings. He said that there are about 8,300 green materials required to construct green buildings, and only IGBC-pre-certified structures are being displayed in this property show.
C. Shekhar Reddy said that everyone in the country needs to increase awareness about sustainability. Everyone must know about the benefits of living in green buildings, including the inflow of natural air and light, which reduces the consumption of electricity. He said that there is a need to develop Hyderabad as a globally sustainable city, and that only then will we be able to attract global investments. The government should encourage those who have settled abroad from Telugu states to come home and set up industries. He said that if a separate portfolio is placed in the government department for this purpose, it should not be surprising if reverse migration takes place.
If sectors like IT and manufacturing grow, job and employment opportunities will increase. As a result, the real estate sector will grow. In the last two decades, it has been revealed that Hyderabad is the fourth-fastest-growing city. He said that many reports have revealed that there is a need for 7.8 crore houses in the next 10 years. He reminded that the real estate market reacts positively only when the government announces new policies and schemes. He opined that the real estate market will grow significantly when the implementation of an easy trade policy and the rationalisation of taxes are introduced. It is said that the demand for flats with large areas is increasing after COVID and that the construction of most skyscrapers in the country is taking place in Hyderabad. The builders are providing seven-star clubhouse facilities.
