Deadline extended for completion of Smart City Mission’s projects

The central government has extended the deadline for completing Smart City projects across the country until March of the upcoming year. It has instructed states that had sanctioned funds and started new projects to complete them. The Smart City Mission, which began with an initial allocation of Rs. 1.44 lakh crore for 7,188 projects in various cities nationwide, has now completed 90% of the approved projects.

In our state, works under the Smart City Mission are progressing well in Warangal and Karimnagar. In Warangal, 45 projects have been completed so far, amounting to Rs. 518 crore, with 66 ongoing. Similarly, in Karimnagar, 25 projects have been completed, totaling Rs. 287 crore, with 22 projects ongoing. Chief Ministers from several states, along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, are urging the central government to extend the Smart City Mission’s deadline further until March 31, 2025.
