Housing societies and other commercial buildings not installing the fire-fighting system or did not conform to the fire safety standards would have to face stern action. The owners of such buildings would be fined Rs 50,000 or would be sent to six months in jail, according to a decision taken by the Pune Municipal Corporation Fire Brigade Department. It took a special drive in this regard. The building owners should obtain a certificate from the licensed auditors indicating that the fire protection mechanism is excellent in their structure. It should be sent to the Pune civic authorities online. At the same time, the civic officials would inspect the buildings. If they detect any deviations, they would take suitable action against the owners. Since many owners are not adopting suitable fire safety precautions, therefore, the fire brigade officials are forced to take a decision in this regard.
