Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to give utmost priority to cleanliness across the jurisdictions of the three municipal corporations. Warning that he would personally conduct inspections, the Chief Minister said negligence would not be tolerated if garbage was found anywhere. He instructed the commissioners of the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations to begin field inspections as early as 6 AM. The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development departments at the State Secretariat on Tuesday.

During the review, the Chief Minister assessed the policy on increasing advertisement revenue and issued several instructions on measures needed to enhance municipal income. He directed officials to install smart poles at major junctions and other locations in the city, integrating electric cables, other utility lines, CCTV cameras and advertisement boards on these poles.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to study the feasibility of developing multi-level parking facilities, including on private lands in various parts of the city, and specifically to examine opportunities along Necklace Road.

Expressing concern that despite the presence of a large number of advertisement hoardings, the expected revenue was not being generated, the Chief Minister questioned officials on the issue. He instructed them to compare the city’s advertisement revenue with that of Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. Strict action was ordered against advertisers causing revenue losses to the government.

He also suggested reserving 10 percent of advertisement boards for government and welfare programme publicity. Officials made a PowerPoint presentation on revenue generation through PPP and other models, after which the Chief Minister offered suggestions and guidance.

Additionally, the Chief Minister directed that a Unicode-based system be adopted for streetlight maintenance across all cities and towns in the state. He also asked officials to compile details of parks within the three municipal corporations and focus specifically on their development.
