Mumbai police department’s economic offences wing has arrested five persons in three cases recently for having duped people to the tune of Rs 28 crore. These included three directors of a realty firm – Raj Arcades and Enclaves – for cheating a flat buyer to the tune of Rs 76 lakh. They were identified as Rajesh Sawla, Aswin Mistry and Jayesh Rami.
In 2019, they sold a flat to customer for Rs 76 lakh not disclosing the fact that they availed bank loan on the flat. When the customer received bank notices asking him to pay up the loan, the customer lodged a complaint with the economic offences with of the Mumbai police.
The police department has said that there are six more similar cases have been lodged against the trio and the police are investigating the case. They were accused of selling the same flat to different persons. In another case, Sai Lee Developers director Mangesh Sawant was arrested. In yet another case, a developer Jayesh Sha was arrested by the police. He is accused of collecting Rs 15 crore to construct a building for a private company, but did not fulfill his obligation. In Oshiwara, he is also accused of collecting Rs 12.14 crore from 30 others to sell flats in Gourav Legend. In fact, he did not get necessary permission to build the Gourav Legend. Shah was arrested on the basis of complaints lodged by the customers.
