30 green crusaders feted

To encourage construction of green buildings, the RERA and other relevant rules are going to include IGBC guidelines among them. Efforts are under way in this regard, avers RERA member-secretary Kommu Vidyadhar. He was taking part as chief guest in the green crusaders felicitation programme held at Madhapur in Hyderabad on Friday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he said that the Government of Telangana gives priority to safeguard greenery. He called upon planners, architects, government officials and people to play their bit of role in safeguarding environment. I Ganapati Reddy, who was also the chief guest, observed that the governmental efforts have been promoting greenery and increasing ground water table. The government has set an example by including its own projects among the list of IGBC green building rating, he added.

NAC Director Bikshapati has said that the IGBC is forging ahead in educating and capacity building of students and other experts to develop green buildings. He exuded confidence that the IGBC would develop further and extend the knowledge related to construction activities far and wide. CREDAI Hyderabad general secretary V Rajasekhar Reddy says IGBC green building ratings highlight conservation of water and energy. All real estate developers should opt for green building ratings for their projects to safeguard the Planet Earth. IGBC Amaravati Chapter Chairman Vijay Sai Meka and others, including M Anand and KS Venkata giri, took part in the event.

During the event, 30 real estate developers and owners of corporate projects, who have registered their names for the IGBC ratings, have been felicitated as green crusaders. They are constructing green buildings with a total plinth area of 3.80 crore sft, which is described as a record of sorts.
