The Jaipur Municipal Action cracked the whip on building owners violating the rules and seized three commercial buildings for running business without obtaining the NOC from the fire department. It put locks to the Okay Tower in Ajmer Road, a restaurant in Collectorate Circle and the building where the Vishal Mega Mart was located. First it served notices on the owners of the three buildings and later sealed them. An official of the Jaipur municipal corporation said that the three buildings did not obtain the NOC from the fire department and there are many more such buildings in the city. Action would be taken against them too, he said.
The JMC Heritage Wing identified that over 2000 commercial properties in Jaipur city did not have the NOC. The civic body issued notices on 600 buildings. Moreover, awareness is being created among the people to obtain the NOC from the fire department. If the building owners deposit money to get NOC from the fire department, the civic body gets revenue to the tune of Rs 50 crore. At this rate, there are many buildings in Hyderabad, but how many have the NOC from the fire department?
Did the GHMC authorities verify whether the commercial properties have the NOC from the fire department or not. But, it is not clear as of now. Several advise the civic body to respond now rather than responding late i.e. after taking place of an untoward incident.
