18% GST on lease properties

The GST department has introduced a new rule starting from October 10. If the person leasing out the property is not registered under GST, the individual or organisation leasing the commercial property will have to pay an 18% GST. Experts say that this new rule could impose an additional burden on tenants. This is because, even though they will pay the GST, they will not be able to claim the Input Tax Credit (ITC).
