In all, 12 FIRs have been registered against Sradhdha Skyline Builders and its partners for not completing the project even after 12 years of grounding it. Generally, the police will lodge only one FIR against a person or an organization.
According to details of the case, residents of an apartment in Pant Nagar in Ghatkopar of Mumbai entered into an agreement with Swastik Ventures in 2010 asking the builder to re-develop their building and give one flat to each of the 16 residents of the building and additional flats for them to sell them in the market. One of the conditions was paying a rent of Rs 37,000 per month to each of the residents and completing the project in 28 months. Further, they insisted that the rent be increased by 10 per cent every six months.
In 2016, due to differences among partners two of the directors quit the company and told the customers that they have been continuing the work with under the company’s name Sradhdha Skyline Builders. But, they did not handover the flats so far. In this backdrop, 12 of the 16 flat owners lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the police registering 12 FIRs. However, the police said that at the time of filing the charge-sheet a single case would be filed clubbing all the FIRs.
