The Regional Ring Road project, which is set to become a super game-changer for Telangana, is progressing. Currently, the construction of the Regional Ring Road, which will connect multiple districts and span a total of 350 kilometers, is underway, with about 40 kilometers of the Outer Ring Road already completed. The RRR is being constructed in two sections—north and south—and the government believes that once this road is completed, half of Telangana will experience significant development.
The 161.59-kilometer-long Northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) is set to be constructed, and the National Highways Authority of India has recently called for tenders for this. The Telangana government has called for tenders for the consultancy firm to design the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 189-kilometer-long Southern section. In this context, the Telangana government has decided to construct radial roads connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
Plans are being made to build roads at 11 locations that will integrate both the ORR and RRR projects. Government sources have revealed that the total length of these 11 radial roads will exceed 300 kilometers. For this, authorities say that more than 1,000 acres of land will need to be acquired. The government is planning to build Greenfield roads from several exits of the Outer Ring Road, including exit numbers 2, 4, 8, 10, 13, 15, and other areas. Under the direction of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, notifications for land acquisition have already been issued in some areas.
* As part of the project involving the integration of the ORR and RRR, the government initially planned to construct new Greenfield roads. However, due to various issues, it is now considering developing existing roads into radial roads where possible. It is understood that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reviewed this matter and provided direction to the officials. Some of the proposed Greenfield radial roads pass through villages and towns, while in other areas, large portions of the roads intersect with forest land. Due to technical challenges in road design, officials have proposed expanding existing roads and developing radial roads instead.
Significant land acquisition has already been carried out for national highways, ORR, and industrial development. However, further land acquisition could lead to difficulties with the local population. In such a scenario, the government is considering connecting brownfield roads where possible. The state government is focusing on completing the radial roads as quickly as possible. Once the 11 Greenfield roads connecting the ORR and Regional Ring Road are constructed, the Telangana government plans to develop townships, green industrial corridors, and warehouses in those areas. As a result, the real estate sector in these regions is expected to have a promising future.
